A Start
I
was flying through space in my
V1-StarFighter. I was doing a standard patrol outside of planet
Haven. I had just graduated from the Star training Academy
and was going through the standard shit-jobs that no one wanted
to do ....like PATROL. I had a real knack for fighting in
any aircraft or spacecraft. I could, for some reason, jump
into a ship and know how to fight it and know all the
functions like I had flown it before.
Nothing ever realy happened on PATROL.
No one would really come this way to do any harm or fight.
All the fighting was done in this place called Sector One,
or at least that was what was rumored. No one I know had been
there. The last thing to happen in PATROL was 10 years ago,
in the last war. But now, there was peace. We have had peace
now for five years and nothing happens on PATROL.
I decided to deviate from the standard
patrol area and look around. No one really went that far
into space anymore because everything that we needed was on
the planet. After the war, less and less people left the planet
and the PATROL were kept around just in case someone came
to the planet. At that point, we could see if there were hostile,
but no one had come to this planet now in over a year.
I was now traveling away from the planet
and was about a light year away by now. Nothing really changed
(this is space after all) as I went. Then, there was a flash
of light and all the nav systems went out. Everything seemed
to have stopped working. I still had control of the V1 but
the communication was out as well as the nav computer.
Well, I thought, I will just have to
turn around and fly back without any nav computer help. I
was only a light year away and sould be able to see the planet
on the return back. So, I started my trek back to home. I
flew what I thought was a light year - but still no sign of
planet Haven. Maybe the flight system was damaged or something. I
turned up the power on the engines to pick up speed. This
sould do it. I sould be there in no time.
After awhile I spotted a planet in
the distance. Haven finally. As I approched the planet, I
noticed that it looked nothing like I remembered it.
"No," I thought to myself. "The planet
must've rotated to a area I'm just not use to seeing."
As I got closer to the planet, I knew
it was not Haven. What was this planet? There was no planet
for 10 light year and I could not have gone 10 light years.
Still, I was lucky to be somewhere
with the nav system the way it was.
I decided to land and take a look around. Maybe I could find some information on what planet this was and try and get some baring on where I was. As I landed,
I thought that it would be cool to have scanner to see what
type of life was on this place... but no such things existed.
I had the computer check to make sure
I could beath the air outside and then opened the hatch. Aah
fresh air.
Well first order of busness was survival.
So, I made a camp, built a fire, and now it was time to find
food and look around. My descent to this planet was fast and
with the system the way it was, I didn't know if there was
anything intelligent on this planet.
As I explored the planet. I came to
an old ruin. It has some sort of pyramid in the middle and
the remains of other decaying buildings around it. As I came
to the pyramid, I saw an entrance that lead down. As I decended
the stairs, I took out my light stick and slowly continued
down. The wall and steps were all made of different rocks.
But, when I come to a junction, the wall was now made of some
sort of black steel.
As I entered the new part of the pyramid,
the lights went out on the light stick and I sensed something
behind me. I dove for the ground and barely dodged a blast
coming from behind.
How did I know that was going to happened?
Well I didn't have any time to think about it. I dodged a
couple of more blasted and then was hit by one. I yelled as
I was hit , but there was no pain - just the shock of
being hit. I wasn't hurt. It hadn't even touched me. I had
somehow blocked the shot when I knew I was going to be hit.
I yelled in rage at the unknown thing that was shooting at
me and caused some sort of energy to come out of my mouth
and hit the unseen enemy.
I went to see who I had hit, and,
as I come to the body the light stick started to work. I wonder what caused the light stick to run back on. Did I
turned on the light with my mind. I had wanted it on or was it something in the room. The
body on the floor was chared to the point that I could not
tell if this was human or otherwise.
I was somewhat tired, but at the same
time, my mind was racing with what I had done. How had I
known that I was going to be shot? How did I shot that blast from my body? How was I able to take that blast and not get hurt? I would have to test this
new found ability.
